The Vindö 65 was introduced in 1980 and offered in three versions: the sloop-rigged 65 S, the ketch-rigged 65 Mix, and the 65 MS, which is ketch-rigged with a raised superstructure.
The Vindö 65 is a solid construction, built to cross the open seas. The hull is made of fiberglass, with a long keel and the rudder mounted on the aft edge of the keel. The deck is built of wood, and the superstructure has a beautiful classic mahogany finish.
The Vindö 65 X-TRA is a Mix version built in 1984 for a German first owner. In 1986, it was purchased by a Swedish couple (the current owners) who sailed X-TRA around the world between 1988-1992. Since then, it has been used in Scandinavia, mainly on the Swedish west coast, as a floating summer cottage. Since 1993 (for 29 years!), X-TRA has been serviced and stored in a heated hall at Vindö Marin during the winter.
Both masts are roller furling and have recently been updated and painted (white). The main mast is hydraulically operated, and the mizzen mast is manual. An electric roller for the genoa was installed around 2018. The teak deck and mahogany superstructure are in good condition. The sails have been regularly serviced and are in okay condition. The well-protected center cockpit has a fixed windshield with an opening center window and a beautiful mahogany steering wheel.
The layout offers an aft cabin with two berths and plenty of storage space. The longitudinal galley is located directly to starboard of the companionway, and the navigation station is directly to port. A storage space for sailing clothes and an extra refrigerator are located aft of the navigation station. The salon has two sofas and a folding table. Forward of the mast bulkhead is a cabin with a V-berth, toilet, and even more storage space.
