Its not often you will find an example of this very well respected and strongly built Canadian offshore cruiser for sale. Alondra is a 1972,44' center cockpit ketch that was designed by John Brandlmayr and built by Spencer Boats, a North American yacht builder with a reputation for quality construction. Alondra's hull was built at a time when manufacturers did not fully appreciate how strong fiberglass was and this heavy layup resulted in hulls that are nearly indestructible. Alondra is a true masterpiece of design and structure, featuring twin cabins, a huge engine room with endless storage, large saloon, full galley all finished in a rich solid timber. There is ample storage through out. You would be hard pressed to find a more comfortable and spacious long distance cruising or liveaboard yacht. Insurance survey from 2014 valued this boat at 85,000 (USD). Since 2014 we have completed many upgrades including new Furlex roller furling and genoa, mainsail, comnav hydraulic autopilot, engine driven modular water maker (40 g/hr), 3000w inverter, freezer, on demand propane hot water. New topside and deck paint were applied just before going to French Polynesia. Installed dual alternators one dedicated to the cranking battery and a high output alternator dedicated to the house batteries There are many spare parts on board and all the tools and equipment one would need to do major construction/surgery. Alondra comes with two dinghies. The inflatable (with a Tohatsu 9.8 - 4 stroke) is what we used more for longer trips and for SCUBA diving. However, the rowing/sailing dinghy was so wonderful for getting ashore and to easily carry it up the beaches (especially the coral beaches).

Remarks
We had never planned on selling Alondra but Covid and children have forced us to make some tough life choices. As a result we do not have a lot of photos that do not show us living aboard and having a good time. We have put together a video that describes the boat and shows some images of Alondra. We will be in Tonga cruising the boat from June 25 to the first of August and we will be able to get more photos on request. We would like to hand the boat off to the next owner in Tonga and one of us would be happy to spend a week or more cruising/going through all the sytems with the new owner.
