Casuella is a very pretty Laurent Giles ketch. Built in 1964 by Porter and Haylet of Wroxham Norfolk her traditional accommodation gives a very cosy feel. Casuella is in good structural condition having had extensive work carried out over the last few years. This work has included stripping the deck and repairing various timbers. The deck and coachroof have been replaced with new ply and epoxy sheathed. The keel bolts have been pulled and inspected by the surveyor and found to be in good condition. New mizzen 2019 and new tiller 2020. The Peter Duck class enjoys a good reputation for their sea keeping qualities and this example has been given extensive professional maintenance and is ready for her next owner. A note from the owner: - Casuella- for sale- £9,500.00 Casuella is a 28ft Peter Duck, bermuda rigged ketch designed by Laurent Giles and built in 1964. She has been owned by us for the last 8 ½ years. Early on we joined the OGA and even though she is not an Old Gaffer she was accepted into the club being a wooden yacht full of character. We have taken part in numerous gatherings and regattas including the race from Yarmouth to Lymington in a force 6 to gusting 7 wind. Even in these choppy and alarming seas we were dry in the cockpit, and she was stable in the rough conditions. Below deck she is roomy with good headroom, a coal burning stove, wood lined saloon and a large double bunk up forward. We have enjoyed many evenings with friends on board, with the stove lit, warm and snug and cocooned from the elements. When the weather allows, we have entertained 6 to 8 friends sitting in the cockpit and on deck. Being based in Cowes has been great for sailing to and exploring a variety of ports in and around the Solent including Bucklers Hard, Newtown Estuary, Portsmouth harbour, Bembridge Harbour, Emsworth Estuary and Osbourne Bay. As she draws just over 3ft we have been able to explore up the rivers and using the depth sounder “creek crawl “to hidden places including Western Haven and to the top of the Medina. Once anchored in tranquil places the family have used her as a base from which to paddle board and canoe. Five years ago, Casuella was out of the water, under cover for a year where a shipwright rebuilt her deck and a small number of frames below deck were replaced. The main mast was restored, and the mizzen mast was replaced in 2015. She is in sound condition. We are reluctant to sell but the years have caught up with us. We would love to find someone who will appreciate and enjoy her as much as we have. Accommodation Comprising of the traditional layout of double berth forward.
