The Farr 40 is a one-design yacht designed by Bruce Farr and built by Carrol Marine. The idea behind this boat type was to offer a fast, easy-to-handle, and affordable yacht for offshore regattas. There are strict rules for this One Design class, but often races are held against others in different handicap systems, such as ORCi and SRS. Despite being a single-hull boat, it offers incredible speed resources, and you are guaranteed to be one of the first boats to cross the finish line. Even if the handicap systems change, this Grand Prix boat will always be high on the results list. The mast, spreaders, and spinnaker boom are made of carbon fiber, all to achieve maximum performance. The deck layout is simple and functional, with most trimming lines and sheets below deck. The boat requires its crew to perform at the highest level, and for longer offshore sailing, there are sea berths, a toilet, a navigation table, and a simple galley.
The boat was originally called "Bit Of a Cup" and had great success in the UK. The current third owner has taken good care of her and upgraded the equipment on board. Before the 2017 season, the mainsail was upgraded to a "Square Top Main," with accompanying double backstays, which has given her extra power and speed. Whether you plan to participate in the ORC-EM in Norway this summer or want to experience exciting and fast sailing, this is the boat for you and your crew.
Note: The boat is located in Helsinki, Finland. Price is 66,000EUR, which is approximately SEK 745,000.
