Wauquiez 40PS - A Comfortable and Well-Built Sailboat

Our opinion is that boats from Wauquiez Yachts in France are known for their strong and well-built constructions. The French boat designer Barret Racoupeau has managed to give this 40-foot Pilot Saloon a sleek, well-balanced design and functional layout with large storage spaces. A very comfortable boat for long voyages.

The German boating magazine Die Yacht conducted a test in 2001 comparing it to four other similar boats and their conclusion was that the Wauquiez 40PS is a comfortable and pleasant sailboat for a small crew with surprisingly appealing sailing performance.

The Wauquiez 40PS, named GOSI, was launched in 2002 and was initially used as a display boat by the yard's representative in Germany. In the spring of 2004, the current owner bought the boat. Shortly after taking over, it was discovered that the bulkheads, which are laminated to the hull, were not laminated up to the deck. It turned out to be a mistake during production and the yard took the boat in and laminated the bulkheads to the deck.

Since then, the boat has sailed in the Mediterranean, Northern European waters, and the Baltic Sea. The owner deliberately chose this boat because it was known to be a stable boat. It was suitable for the planned voyages and was spacious. The owner has appreciated that it is easy to handle alone with sail setting and reefing from the cockpit and that it is easy to sail.

The boat has been in the water year-round and taken ashore annually for service and maintenance. In recent years, the boat has been used very little.

GOSI is based in Kalmar and we can show the boat by appointment.
