Elena Maria Barbara is a replica 18th Century Baltic topsail schooner which originally formed part of Peter the Great’s Russian Navy.
This wonderful replica was built in 1995 along with a handful of other replicas to commemorate the 300th Anniversary of Peter the Great founding the Russian Navy this celebration took place in 2003 in St Peterburg.
The design was drawn by navel architect Andrey Ahkmeton is based on a set of lines formerly drawn by Fredrick Af Chapman and taken from work ‘Architectura Navalis Mercatoria’ published in 1768.
In the past 15 years various owners have undertaken the project of slowly rebuilding Elena from the softwood construction in the 90s to be fully hardwood, this work has been undertaken by skilled shipwrights and what you see today is a 80% complete project.
The Elena Maria Barbara is now in a position where by she could be completed as a private or charter vessel or even an amazing houseboat !
Construction
Fully rebuilt in the past 15 years using various hard woods by professional shipwrights
Accommodation
Currently the interior is partly finished, but as a sailing vessel she was laid out to allow for 8 crew to sleep in a bunks (four in the forward cabin and four in the aft cabin)
A spacious saloon has curved seating on both sides with a large galley area a midships
