MERCURIAN is a Colvic UFO 27. A masthead rigged Cruiser Racer that is still able to hold her own in 'round-the-cans' or longer races.
It was bought to be a day-boat for myself, as I am paralysed from the chest down, however after sailing her for a couple of seasons I have decided I want to sail around GB and therefore need to move to something bigger. I had begun to strip out the inside in order to create a more open plan design, so although the boat is fully functional to sail, inside it is a project boat for someone to finish.
Since buying her in Nov 2021 I have put in new standing rigging (2022), had the bottom anti-fouled each winter (2021/22 and 2022/23). A full survey was carried out in 2022. Mainsail halyard replaced (2022). New tiller extension (2022). Engine removed, serviced, gaskets replaced (2023).
I competed in the Round The Island Race in 2022 and 2023 with Mercurian. This year we came 6th in Div8c and 84th overall from the ISC Rating System fleet (approx 500 entries), and that was without flying the spinnaker, so she is still a fast and competitive yacht.
She needs someone with time to refurbish the inside, as the hull is sound, the rigging brand new and she sails well. I did't realise how much it cost for others to do the work that I can no longer carry out (due to my paralysis).

ConstructionOriginally built in 1979, designed by Kim Holman. Hand laid GRP with topsides a white gelcoat surface with grey non slip deck paint. Tread master bonded to cockpit flooring. Internally hull has stiffeners and the surfaces are finished in GRP mouldings or teak faced plywood. Bulkheads are of plywood.
