Designed by Laurent Giles, and introduced in 1972, the Westerly Longbow is a solid coastal or offshore cruiser, built like all Westerlys of the period, to Lloyds specification and fitted out as a spacious family boat
Although the same hull was used by other models, to me the Longbow with her fin keel, ketch rig and aft cockpit seems to have eliminated most of the compromises you are usually faced with when deciding on a cruising boat. They are known to sail well and are easily single-handed with a sail plan option for all conditions. The interior is light, spacious and extremely practical for both sailing and for liveaboard purposes
This example has been in the same ownership for twenty years and has had numerous upgrades and replacements in that time including rig, sails, engine and electrics. She's well set up to be self sufficient and is clean and tidy and fresh below. We're still trying to put together a bit more information as the owner sadly passed but she has plenty of historic paperwork and is ashore in a good yard so inspections are welcome
