Do you, like us, feel that it would be nice to go sailing occasionally, starting from the area around Åkersberga? At the same time, do you have a feeling that the utilization of owning your own boat would be too low in relation to the effort and costs involved? Then buy a share in a modern sailboat together with us!
For example, with three shares, it means one-third of the purchase price, one-third of the ongoing costs, and one-third of the effort, but at the same time, a feeling that you (almost) have the opportunity to use the boat as much as you have time for.
The idea is that the co-owners collectively purchase a boat that suits everyone's preferences. The utilization is regulated according to a written agreement. Together, we will create a schedule where the boat is used, for example, every third weekend and one or two weekday evenings per week. During the summer vacation period, access to the boat is available for a slightly longer time. Exchanges are made by agreement. The necessary effort is fairly distributed among the co-owners (and only requires one-third of the effort ;-) )
We envision the home port in the Åkersberga area. Possibly, Lake Mälaren in the Järfälla area could be an alternative, at least during the first season. We think three shares are optimal, but two or four shares could also be possible. Contribution per share is 150-250 thousand SEK. The boat should be a reasonably modern (2000s) plastic boat, approximately 32-38 feet in good condition, suitable for recreational sailing and equipped as normal for such a type of boat. The details will be decided collectively!
Who are we looking for to join this co-ownership? We are looking for friendly, uncomplicated people with a touch of social competence and flexibility. We believe that we ourselves possess these qualities. :-)
The individuals we are seeking should be reasonably responsible and somewhat handy to handle at least the basic tasks involved in owning a boat, but at the same time not overly meticulous to the point where all the joy of boat ownership is diminished. It is important that there is a good personal chemistry. The ability to compromise and the willingness to find solutions that everyone is satisfied with are important qualities. One cannot expect to get everything one wants in every situation in a shared boat ownership. The conditions for the shared boat ownership are regulated in a written document to avoid any uncertainties, especially regarding questions about potential damages, insurance, wear and tear, etc.
In addition to the mentioned advantages of co-owning a boat, the idea is also to have fun and enjoy the shared boat. Perhaps there can be a joint trip, discussions about which indispensable (?) boat gadget to purchase next, well-deserved coffee breaks together during spring preparations, etc.
So, who are we? We are a family with two adult children (19 & 21 years old) living in Järfälla. We have been co-owning a smaller motorboat with another family for about 10 years, and we have only had positive experiences with shared boat ownership.
