Boat Description

Klassischer Cruiser-Racer - Carter 30

Classic cruiser-racer with a sporty-elegant design from the late 1970s. One of the last boats from the "golden age of offshore racing", designed by the legendary yacht designer Dick Carter.

Year of construction: 1979 with tiller steering. Length: 9.07m, Width: 3.07m. Draft: 1.68m, Displacement: 3.30t, Ballast: 1.35t, Sail area: just under 36m2. Total of 5 berths (2x forward cabin, 2x salon, 1x quarter berth).

The boat has excellent sailing characteristics and performs particularly well upwind. The engine, with a power of 13kW (19HP), is adequately sized for the size of the boat and operates reliably.

In terms of handling, the Carter 30 is also suitable for beginners, smaller crews, or families with children. The boat is fully equipped and ready for smaller or larger adventures.

Our boat with hull number 216 has always been well maintained and gradually renewed and revised in recent years.

Recently, a new Volvo Penta with saildrive was installed by the previous owner, which has now run just over 500 hours and is well broken in.

We purchased the boat at the end of 2019 and had the underwater hull completely rebuilt professionally in 2021 (sandblasted, allowed to dry for three-quarters of a year, and rebuilt with several layers of fiberglass). The hull is practically new and should last several decades with proper care, according to the manufacturer.

In addition, we completely replaced the old lights with new energy-saving LED lighting and installed a new 100W solar panel with MPP controller. This allows for unrestricted long and self-sufficient trips even in the summer.

The new dinghy and stand-up paddleboard provide mobility and fun, and invite you to anchor.

A newly installed diesel heater, together with the cockpit tent, extends the sailing season and allows for travel to more remote areas, such as northern Scandinavia (Norway, Denmark, Sweden, where we have been this and last year). There is also a new VHF radio (fixed and mobile), new automatic life jackets, a life raft, an autopilot that can steer by compass and by wind, a weather receiver with shortwave reception, stainless steel water and diesel tanks, etc. etc.

The rigging is in good condition and consists of a fully battened mainsail, genoa I and II for roller furling, and a storm jib.

For those traveling on rivers with the mast lowered, they will appreciate the switchable VHF antenna (UBI) and the specially made aluminum mast supports.

Also new: toilet, ball valves in the salon and bathroom, anchor chain and rope, mooring lines, fenders, lazy jacks and lazy bag, cockpit cover, kedge anchor, 100W USB-C charger for laptops, etc.

The sale is due to expansion. A very nice summer berth in Ueckermünde with a view of the fields (Marina Lagunenstadt), as well as winter storage in a hall, can be taken over upon request. The travel time from Berlin, whether by train or car, is just under 2 hours. For a manageable amount, you can fulfill the dream of freedom on the water here.
