"The Dawn" is a Contest brand sailboat, type 27a mk1, with a classic look and a length of 8.30 meters and a width of 2.45 meters. The boat was built in 1970 and has a polyester hull in an s-frame design, which ensures good sailing characteristics. Steering is by tiller on the outside of the boat, and the rudder is single.
With four permanent berths, the accommodation offers plenty of room for a small crew. Inside you will find a dining area with comfortable cushions, but there is no hot water on board. The water tank has a capacity of 100 liters and the toilet is manual with discharge directly into the open water. Heating is not available.
The engine, a Kubota Z750 with 17 hp, is electrically started and allows sailing at a maximum speed of 12 km/h. The boat has one engine and a 50-liter fuel tank. Important gauges include a temperature gauge, an oil pressure gauge (light), and an alternator gauge (light).
In terms of rigging, the boat has one aluminum mast and three sails: mainsail, jib and genoa. The condition of the sails is described as fair.
Exterior equipment includes a spray hood for protection from the elements, sea railing for deck safety, fenders and lines, a swim ladder, and pulpit and stern chairs.
In terms of safety, the boat is equipped with a self-draining cockpit and an electric bilge pump.
Although "The Dawn" has some flaws, such as paintwork that needs attention and some aged woodwork (not rotten but old). There are no traces of osmosis, is positive.
