The Olle Enderlein designed Hallberg-Rassy Monsun 31 was introduced in 1973; remaining in production until 1982, and total of more then 900 boats left the factory. The sturdy long keeled design proving popular with long distance offshore and coastal cruisers alike. Notably the Swedish sailor Kurt Bjorklund purchased his Monsun 31 new in 1974, during his ownership the boat completed three and a half circumnavigations, eventually finding its way to a museum when Kurt retired from sailing in 1996.

BUILDER’S COMMENTS:
‘Monsun is designed as a family cruiser offering maximum safety and comfort………
The designer Olle Enderlein, has chosen to give the monsoon a long keel, this enables her to track on the wind and makes her easy to handle and sea worthy. The sail area is large enough to give good speed in light air but the Monsun is also solid enough to carry her sails in a good breeze without excessive heeling.
Her generous beam and the well-thought-out layout (of the main cabin) give a clear passage from table and seats to the head and forward cabin; an important feature in a cruising boat.’
