Feltzbau 1995

The solid aluminum yacht of the 'Skorpion 1200 DS' type was built in Hamburg Finkenwerder. The most noticeable feature is the 10m2 deck salon. Unlike most production yachts of this type, it truly deserves its name - when sitting in the salon, the large windows are at eye level. The 4m2 center cockpit and over 6m3 of storage space are also remarkable.

From 1995 to 2001, the first owner customized the ship for weekend and vacation cruises in the North and Baltic Seas. Extensive modifications and changes inside and outside the ship, as well as a lot of additional equipment, were necessary for its future use as a bluewater vessel. These works took us three long winters to complete. The biggest tasks included sandblasting the entire hull and subsequent repainting, completely new electrical and water installations (not a single meter of electrical cable or water pipe remained in the ship), switching from roller boom to conventional mainsail, and completing the remaining 25% of the interior construction. The result is a robust and proven design for a bluewater journey.

In early 2004, without prior experience sailing on large yachts, we first considered a longer bluewater journey on our own keel, and thus, a new phase of life. On September 11, 2008, we cast off and set sail for irregular, three to six-month-long stages.
