Cheoy Lee is an iconic name in bluewater cruising. The Cheoy Lee 47 designed by David Pedrick is sometimes also referred to as a Pedrick 47. David Pedrick is a renowned designer who has been a principal designer in eight America's Cup campaigns producing two Cup winners - Courageous in 1974 (while at Sparkman & Stephens) and Stars & Stripes in 1987. No surprise then that his Cheoy Lee 47 is a sparkling performer as well as being a very strong build. Add to this the famous Hong Kong yard where she was built to Lloyds standards and you get a cruising yacht of real note. The hulls on these yachts are noted to be very stiff indeed and built around that such a reliable bluewater yacht is formed.
'MAREA' is a clean grp deck yacht, her current owner removed them when he bought her, she is the aft cockpit version with the useful double companionway set up. Tim has owned MAREA for the last fifteen years and has cruised extensively since his start in Los Angeles. After his Pacific adventures he made his way to Asia after also exploring Australian waters. During covid Tim stayed with his yacht and has kept up with us much maintenance as he could... new painted topsides with 'Awlcraft Vestal White', new primary winch bases, new Ritchie compass, new mainsail etc.
