Boat for Sale

I am selling my Breeon 36 "Mañana" designed by Frans Maas. Over the past few years, I have put a lot of work into restoring her to a sail-worthy condition, and she has proven her potential on trips from Germany to the UK. Despite the work already done, there is still some work to be done. The most urgent task at the moment is to replace some floor timbers under the salon, as they have rusted over the past 60 years and are causing the hull to become leaky under sail.

The 1962-built ship is made of Iroko planks on steel frames and floor timbers. Originally built as a racing boat, she is a very good sea boat with a deep hull and narrow ends. Unlike other boats in the series, her long keel has an increased draft (2m). Despite the low freeboard, she has good headroom, just under 2m aft and about 1.95m in the salon.

The interior layout is quite classic with a V-berth in the bow and a hanging locker aft to port. There is plenty of storage space under the V-berth. To starboard is the bathroom, accessible from the salon through a door, with a toilet and sink. The salon is one step lower than the forward cabin, with two settees, a pilot berth behind the port settee, and storage spaces to starboard. In the middle is a removable table with folding wings and bottle storage underneath, aft and to port is the chart table, and to starboard is the galley.

Deep cockpit with steering wheel and benches on three sides. Deep lazarettes with plenty of storage space. Self-tailing Lewmar 30 winches. All halyards at the mast with 4x Lewmar DC1 halyard stoppers and 8 winches. Jib tracks on the foredeck, one for the jib boom, sheeted on a track in front of the mast.

Top-rigged rig with a pair of spreaders (not swept), two pairs of lower shrouds, two parallel forestays, and a backstay. New stepped mast in 2019, hollow Sitka spruce with solid sections at the masthead, spreaders, and deck passage. New standing rigging in Dyneema in 2019.

Plastimo Navik self-steering system, never tested by me.

30hp Lister-Petter diesel engine, repaired with official spare parts where necessary in recent years. Ran when the boat was lifted.

Current location: Southampton, England.
