The Maxi 1000 was a highly successful model for Maxi Yachts, with nearly a thousand units produced during its ten-year production run. Designed by Pelle Petterson, a champion Olympic sailor, the design was conceived as a performance cruiser that delivered rewarding sailing performance with a high quality and comfortable interior fit-out. Fitted with a fractional rig and a self-tacking staysail, while performing well under sail the design was also easily handled and ideally suited to short or single-handed sailing. Below decks, there were a variety of finishes available to cater to the needs of both racers and cruisers, providing comfort and style.

BABOOSHKA is a late example of the Maxi 1000. With her current owner for the last decade she has been used predominately single-handedly for cruising the coast and islands of Scotland, wintering ashore annually. Enjoying a rigorous maintenance regime she has benefitted from continual upgrading, her inventory highlights include:

OWNER’S COMMENT:
"BABOOSHKA has been a much-loved yacht; cruised, single handed by lady sailor for last 10 years around the west coast of Scotland and Outer Hebrides. She sails beautifully, points well and has proven to be comfortable and reliable in rough conditions. Below decks is dry and comfortable inside and I have always been wintered her ashore with a dehumidifier to keep her in great condition. An easy boat to maintain, there is good access to all the services. Systems have been regularly upgraded as part of a comprehensive annual maintenance plan. Accompanying the boat is a wealth of historical information and instruction manuals, all clearly documented. Only selling as we now have more free time and family want to go more ambitious adventures so moved to a bigger boat."
