The model was launched in 2016 and replaced the popular Dehler 34SV/Dehler 35 sold between 2004-2015. The Dehler 34 2016 was completely redesigned from scratch. Project manager Karl Dehler, along with Judel & Vrolijk, designed the boat. By using the Dehler Carbon Cage, carbon fiber-reinforced beams, they were able to keep the freeboards low while still maintaining full headroom in the salon. The Dehler 34 was the fourth boat in the new series following the Dehler 38, Dehler 46, and Dehler 42. All boats have the same cockpit layout, six winches with Dehler's smart system for single-handed sailing.
