1983 Bruce Roberts Mauritius 49 - USD 110,000

JAMIELA is a (1984) steel Roberts Mauritius centre cockpit pilothouse.  At time of construction in the Balina Shipyard AU, she was extended from 43 ft to (13.1m) to 48.5 ft 14.8m under Roberts Australia supervision. Her present owners bought her here in Langkawi in 2012 and have improved the yacht a great deal.  In 2020 the PERKINS engine was removed and rebuilt to zero hour from the bottom up, new crankshaft and dynamic balance, new camshaft, liners, pistons, new valve set etc.  The engine runs smoothly and flawlessly today and has done a little over 200 hours.  The yacht's genset is also reliable machinery.

A recent refit in 2021 here in a Langkawi shipyard was centred around the hull.

  • Hull Wetted area stripped fully back to steel.

  • Hull plates replaced where depletion loss detected / Chain locker stbd side / V fore end of longitudinal and associated bow V plates / Longitudinal beam and limited plate extending aft to fwd head area / Fwd head area / Aft head area / Mast foot to Keel box section port side lower insert repair.

  • All through hull weld seams Die Penetrant leak checked.

  • Rudder blade assy found to have plate depletion and possible water ingress as visually from the exterior the plate was good. There was no drain / pressure test adapter point located. Test access hole was cut, and water revealed.

  • New rudder was fabricated in accordance with Robert’s drawings (onboard) and with the addition of a drain/pressure port it was tested to 35 PSI Lloyds standard pressure.

  • Prop shaft and Cutlass Bearing replaced with 2 in longer shaft to improve prop efficiency tip clearance in the keel cutout, which was only 0.5 inch / 2.4% of 15% target. Primary purpose to improve efficiency and low speed handling / response. SUCCESFUL

  • Anodes shipset replaced.

  • Wetted area re-protected 6 coats of Epoxy Primer INTERTUF 262 Red

  • The topsides and deck/superstructure were sanded, some filling and fairing. Primed with JOTUN Penguard HB White.

  • Topsides finish JOTUN Hardtop XP, Light Grey.

  • Deck and Superstructure finish JOTUN Hardtop XP, white.

  • Nonslip panels finish JOTUN Hardtop XP, Light Grey with International INTERGRIP additive.

  • Deck Hatch assemblies refurbished Aft cabin re-glazed and all timber treated.

JAMIELA's sail plan is very easily managed.  She has one electric winch backed up by 1 manual on the cockpit coaming. These control from the centre cockpit, main, boom brake furling genoa, self-tacking mizzen and sheets.  The pilothouse has two helms, the larger one at the binnacle may be removed for ease of movement in the cockpit.  The cushioned seats are also long enough to sleep comfortably as 2 Single berths.

JAMIELA presents as a very well cared for, continuously updated steel yacht and will have appeal to liveaboard cruisers. The current owners have lived aboard for 12 years.

The pilothouse blends with your living space well, offering two more berths and the space may be fully enclosed with the aft dropdowns with integral windowpanes for visibility when underway.

The forward bathroom has been adopted as primary destination by successive owners, the aft is generally used for additional dry storage space with the insertion of a full-size removable shelf.
