We are selling our Kathena 7 as we have decided to upgrade to a larger family yacht. This boat is one of the first produced by Hanse Werft and was delivered in a reinforced construction to Wilfried Erdmann, who planned to sail it through Russia, the Black Sea, the Mediterranean, and back.
The boat sails very stiffly and can access shallow bays with its lead wing keel. The powerful Yanmar Diesel engine is fuel-efficient and reliable. The lighting has been converted to LED. In 2009, a new rig with roller mainsail and Furlex system was installed, operated by 6 Andersen winches. A strong bow anchor with chain ensures secure anchoring in critical situations. The original green K7 gennaker and a second one are included in the sale. The entire sail inventory is in good condition and has been inspected annually by a sailmaker.
With an older vessel like this, there is always work to be done. We have started a gentle interior refurbishment to maintain the boat's character and charm. The original petroleum stove works perfectly. The batteries have been gradually replaced over the past 3 years.
