Smaragd CruiserSmaragd Cruiser
Smaragd Cruiser is a great choice for those who want to sail like in the old days: fast on the reaches, quiet, and close to the water. It can withstand strong winds thanks to its heavy lead keel (52%).
History
This boat was built in 1987 at Rivalbåtar by the shipyard owner Roland Bergström and one of his colleagues for shared ownership. I purchased it in 2007 from them. The boat was stored and maintained by Rivalbåtar for the first 20 years. Some of the special solutions they implemented include:
- Larger engine: 2-cylinder Yanmar diesel (2GM20F, 16 hp = capable even in headwinds) with a tank of about 50 liters.
- Sturdy mast (Seldén E170) on deck = no leakage through the deck.
The boat is located in Norrköping.
