Sunbeam 22 for Sale

Due to a change in my life situation, I am reluctantly selling my Sunbeam 22 (built in 1972), especially since a lot of work and money has been invested in my boat recently.

In 2021, I significantly expanded the 12V system and added a new 220V system. In 2022, it received a new rudder, rebuilt by Schöchel-Werft. In 2023, I renewed the halyards, mainsheet, and jib. The hull also received a new paint job last year, and the antifouling has been freshly applied this year.

The Sunbeam is foam-filled, significantly increasing its buoyancy. The foam has not absorbed any moisture as the boat weight matches the factory specifications. The foam also provides good insulation against the cold water in spring.

There are several sails available, including older sails that have been professionally refurbished by a sailmaker last year. Additionally, there is a newer jib as a spare. The foresails are operated on a furling system.

Last year, I also renewed the covers of the salon cushions.

In addition to a functioning but cloudy original compass, the boat is equipped with a depth sounder (2022), a Porta-Potti, and a sink. According to the previous owner, the boat was only used on inland waters before my purchase. It is currently in winter storage in Neustadt on the Baltic Sea.

In 2021, I also replaced the lifelines and added a lifeline net.

The halyards and trim lines are redirected to the cockpit, making it easy to sail solo.

Along with the boat, I am offering a nearly unused 5HP Mercury Sailpower outboard motor. It has a maximum of 4 operating hours and is specially designed for sailboat use. The motor comes with an extra thrust propeller, providing more power than typical outboard motors designed for higher speeds on light boats. It also has its own alternator to charge the consumption battery and an extra-long shaft to prevent submersion in waves.

I am selling it together with my Sunbeam for an additional 1000€, instead of 1200€ alone.

To do's?

Yes. Last year, the keel mechanism broke. This would need to be replaced. I did not consider this urgent as the keel remains in the lowest position and automatically folds up in case of grounding. When I needed the shallow draft when approaching the beach, I easily passed a line from the front under the hull and then set it in the middle of the boat.

Important Note: The boat is over fifty years old. Despite selling it in good faith, there may be some defects. Therefore, I am selling my boat as a private individual without any warranty.
