Lady Helmsman SWE 27Lady Helmsman SWE 27 "Quelle Amie" - 1976
I have owned the boat since 1989 and it has been sailed between Västervik and Piteå with some excursions to Åland and Vasa-Jakobstad. It is a wonderful course-stable boat that sails smoothly in the sea, withstands strong winds, but is also lovely in light winds in the archipelago. She can be sailed alone but it is quite a distance to the bow when the anchor is released.
All hatches on deck are reinforced (sandwich construction with balsa wood encapsulated in fiberglass laid in epoxy). The hull has been sanded down to the fiberglass hull and sealed with 6 layers of epoxy. This was done because there was a lot of filler on the hull. There has never been any sign of water ingress into the hull (osmosis). I took the opportunity to reinforce the rudder with a layer of fiberglass in epoxy the same year. The boat was blue when I bought it with clear lacquer over it which darkened, causing the boat to become blotchy, which is why it was painted by a car painter in eggshell white color about 20 years ago. Volvo diesel engine with fresh water cooling and sailboat drive. Changed the damask on the drive in 2015.
