A strong follow-on to its award-winning predecessor 47, the Boreal 47.2 won European Yacht of the Year when it was introduced in 2021. Boreal has a top reputation for building a beautiful aluminum centerboarder. Robust and powerful with an enclosed doghouse for protection during watch, Boreal yachts have sailed to every corner of the earth, carrying their crew in comfort, speed and safety. The 47.2 represents the best of this experience, with countless new design features that make it ideal for exploring from remote tropical islands to iceberg-filled glacial bays.
This 47.2 just completed its first 12,000 nautical miles of passages and cruising. In three years, it has been from Treguier, France to the UK, down the west coast of Europe, across the Mediterranean to the Greek Islands and back across the Mediterranean via Sicily and the Balaeric Islands. She sailed down to the Canary Islands and the Cape Verde Islands, across the Atlantic, up through the Caribbean and the Bahamas, and into the Chesapeake Bay in the United States. Most of these miles were shorthanded or doublehanded, with only a family crew. Throughout that time, the boat has been meticulously maintained and upgraded, and is in better shape today than when she left the yard. She is currently on the hard in Norfolk, Virginia, USA, ready for launch to go north to Newfoundland, south to Panama, or across the Atlantic.
A one-owner boat, this Boreal 47.2 was constructed for a family with significant blue water experience who knew what they wanted in a long-distance cruising sailboat. Heavily optioned and carefully constructed, she exceeded their expectations with easy handling, fast passages and strength in challenging conditions. Today, they must move on to work and new projects, so there is an opportunity for a new owner to have the boat which can sail to the destinations of their dreams.
