Due to health reasons, I am selling my Jeanneau "Sun Legende 41," built in 1986. This remarkable sailboat has been my home and office during my travels across the Mediterranean, including Croatia, Italy, Greece, and Malta. Despite its age, the boat remains in good condition, as confirmed by a recent survey, and has been meticulously upgraded to ensure it meets modern standards for both sailing and remote living.
Upon purchasing the yacht last June, I undertook a comprehensive upgrade to enhance both comfort and functionality. The manual toilet was upgraded to an electric model, and all old pipes were replaced. Additionally, I installed two new shower pumps. For night sailing, I added LED strips with multiple color options, controllable via an app or remote control, providing both functionality and ambiance. A brand-new sprayhood was installed in October last year in Greece, significantly improving the yacht’s usability.
The electrical system received a complete overhaul. The old service battery system was replaced with top-of-the-line Victron Energy products, including 600Ah Victron LifePo4 Lithium Smart batteries. The power distribution is managed through a Victron Lynx distribution system with a Smart Shunt and Battery Management System (BMS). The solar charge controller was upgraded to a Victron MPPT 100/50, and the alternator charge control is now handled by a Victron Orion. Additionally, the old diode alternator splitter was replaced with a Victron Mosfet system.
For monitoring, I removed the old Philippi system and installed a Simarine Pico Blue monitoring system, which tracks the starter battery, anchor battery, tank levels, and temperature sensors on all batteries. The missing tank sensors for the water tanks will be installed when the boat is taken out of the water. Furthermore, I installed a Victron MultiPlus II 3kw Inverter/Charger, ensuring reliable power management.
The navigation and electronic systems were also extensively upgraded. I installed a complete Raymarine navigation system with a new Seatalk-NG (STNG) network. This includes a new Raymarine Axiom 12 Pro-S chartplotter, an active Raymarine AIS700 Class-B transceiver/splitter, and an Actisense STNG to USB converter. The system integrates data from the Victron and Simarine systems and is ready for the addition of an Actisense EMU-1 converter to make engine gauge data (Temp, RPM, Oil Pressure) available within the STNG network. At the chart table, a new Raymarine i70 Multifunction device was installed.
For internet connectivity, the yacht was upgraded with a Starlink High Performance flat dish, providing reliable internet access anywhere. The connection is secured by a hardware PFSense Firewall and a Linksys WiFi Hotspot. All network cables are new, and the system is integrated through an industrial switch located near the energy systems. The entire network, including Starlink, operates on 12V from the battery, with an average download speed of around 300Mbit/s.
As a liveaboard, the yacht offered me a unique lifestyle, blending work and nature seamlessly. However, there are still a few tasks that need completion. The Bimini top and the old 10mm anchor chain need replacement, with offers already received for €2,000 for the Bimini including cockpit posters and €800 for the anchor chain. The standing rigging was serviced and checked a couple of weeks ago; it is good for the season but should be considered for replacement by the end of the year. Additionally, the current 300W solar panels must be replaced as they do not produce sufficient power. The solar arch is built to carry six 170W panels, and I will rebuild the solar arch when the boat is out of the water.
Given my need for a quick sale, I am open to realistic offers. This is the perfect opportunity for new liveaboards looking to start immediately. The boat will be sold including all tools, parts, and interior fittings.
Summary of Upgrades:
Complete electrical system rebuild with Victron Energy products
New navigation system with Raymarine equipment
Enhanced internet connectivity with Starlink and secure network setup
New sprayhood
Ready-to-use liveaboard setup
