The Ocean Ranger 45 is a classic design from the famous Prout Brothers, that has contributed to the great succes of the Prout yard. The Ocean Ranger 45 hulls of the "Boanerges" were finished and simply equipped by Toby Richardson for his world-cruise from 1981 - 1984, after which he co-founded Modular Mouldings, the yard that built the Freebird and Firebird catamarans. The present Dutch owner bought the "Boanerges" in the same original, open bridgedeck configuration in December 1999. From the start she was meant to stay independent without external dependencies. This does ask for a more spartan life on board than is now common on the modern charter catamarans. After a number of voyages in European waters the present owner left for a solo-voyage to the Caribbean in 2007 to finally settle in Colombia with his Colombian wife. Via the links under the pictures he will tell a lot more about his catamaran, that is now being used as a holiday house, forced by his growing age. The new owner does not need extensive knowledge of boatbuilding/repair or be a great sailor but does need to have a sense of technique and problem-solving.
