To me the glorious era for Moody Yachts was the 1970s. Laurent Giles was among the designers who embraced the new GRP construction techniques of the '60s and there followed a strong partnership between him and Moody's for the next decade
The Moody 44 is a strong, well built and good looking offshore cruising yacht with a well balanced rig and seamanlike layout. The side decks are wide and she's easy to move around and everything on deck feels just that bit bigger than it needs to be. When going below she manages to continue to give that secure feeling that sets true offshore yachts apart.
This Moody 44, built to Lloyds 100-A1 and in the same ownership for almost four decades is a real joy to step aboard. She hasn't been messed with, just maintained well, upgraded where necessary and really enjoyed. She's cruised widely and also posted impressive race results over the years including a Round the Island class win in 2005. She presents well, clean and tidy on deck and fresh and dry below and just waiting to go for a sail!
